Week of April 24th

Monday: Socials with Mr. Sacht-Lund

Tuesday: Socials ... here is the link to Mr. Sacht-Lund's blog (https://mrspencersacht.wordpress.com/igs-9-socials/).  Please bookmark this page so you know where to go in the future.

One Love

Week of Apr 18th

NOTE: Answer key to "Chemistry 9 Workbook" package handed out is found under reivew tab above
Tuesday - Well, we had to detour from my Science plan so that we could chat with Neuf about his next adventure and enjoy the moments of what may be his last time in our classroom.  #onelove #bcgreens #voteneuf :)
- you all managed to figure out how to calculate subatomic particles within atoms and ions by completing your workbook p. 34.  You will be seeing this all again tomorrow but I was impressed by you all today.

Wednesday - BANG!  Notes: Bohr Models (continue from last week's notes found here), Activity: Mystery Elements using Bohr Models.  Quiz on Friday (review package handed out in class yesterday ... key found in above review tab)
Homework: In your notes package, draw the Bohr models for atoms with atomic numbers 1-20 and answer the 6 questions related to this (in your notes package)
Thursday: Check-in on Bohr Models, Notes: Ion formation & practise, review for quiz.  Quiz tomorrow (answer key for review sheet handed out in class is found under above review tab)

Friday: Quiz on what we have done in Chemistry thus far.
Quiz: (7 multiple choice, 6 matching, 8 short response which are similar to the review that was handed out in class)

Week of Apr 10th

Monday - Elements quiz, WS: Periodic Table review (due Wednesday), Socials
Please complete this survey in regards to your project.

Tuesday - Elements quiz, Socials
If any student or group of students are interested in representing youth/IGS (many different roles involved and a great way to meet science and political leaders) in the “march for science” in Centennial Square on April 22 (EARTH DAY!!!) to coincide with a similar march in Washington DC and other cities around the world. The idea is to highlight academic freedom and the importance of scientific research and its subsequent communication, so that it can play a role in policy decisions.  Here is a link with more info: https://www.marchforscience.com/ and you can search for us on  Facebook “March for Science Victoria”.  Please contact UVic's Terrie Finston at Phone: 250-721-7145
Wednesday - hand-in Periodic Table review Worksheet, Elements Quiz, Notes: Atoms vs Ions (calculations & practise),

Thursday - Socials

Prediction: Chemistry quiz on what we have discussed so far on Thursday, Apr 20th
