If any student or group of students are interested in representing youth/IGS (many different roles involved and a great way to meet science and political leaders) in the “march for science” in Centennial Square on April 22 (EARTH DAY!!!) to coincide with a similar march in Washington DC and other cities around the world. The idea is to highlight academic freedom and the importance of scientific research and its subsequent communication, so that it can play a role in policy decisions. Here is a link with more info: https://www.marchforscience.com/ and you can search for us on Facebook “March for Science Victoria”. Info from Lux
Here is the info about the drop-in that Lux supports at Commonwealth...
The Commonwealth Drop-in is every Friday from 5:30 to 10 pm and it's open to anyone 13-18 who identifies as 2-Spirit, Queer, Trans and their allies! We have dinner every week usually around 630 and we generally end up baking cookies or mug cakes or something sweet towards the end of the night! We have a functioning recording studio, video games (Wii U and Xbox 360), a pool table, two ping pong tables, foosball and a super sized chess board on the floor. There's usually anywhere between 10-30 people there and I've always been really impressed with how welcoming and inclusive the space is to newcomers. We also have a few regular members who aren't as social/talkative that prefer to hang out a little more quietly, so there's usually a chill zone with art supplies and snacks for people to just relax as well.
We usually don't have set group activities but we've been known to have open mics, clothing swaps, dance parties, Degrassi marathons, picnics, lazer tag outings and more! It's a really fun community of kids and we see such a range of personalities and interests that I really would recommend it to anyone who's trying to find LGBT community.

Meiosis - hands on
Just a few, but SUPER important, notes to finish up about meiosis before we start really looking at these cells.
Task:
Once you have cut out and ordered your cells through their stages of meiosis I and meiosis II, paste them onto your sheet of paper in the "picture" column. Add detailed descriptions of each stage in the "descriptions" column. New vocab terms to include (but only where applicable):
independent assortment (and define it), cross over (and define it), daughter cells, gametes, daughter cells, diploid cell (2n), haploid (n), homologous chromosomes, sister chromatids. Label each phase is the "phase" column.
One the back of your paper, create a Venn diagram thoroughly comparing and contrasting mitosis and meiosis
TASK IS DUE MONDAY
